1. marijuana or hashish; 2. any drug, especially a narcotic; 3. stimulating drug illegally given to a racehorse to either induce greater speed or impair its performance; 4. information or data (originally used in horseracing contexts, i.e. the information about which horses have been doped or not); 5. stupid person (possibly a separate word; originally found in British dialect (Cumberland; mid-19th C.); in this dialect “dope” is a variant of “dowp” - “carrion crow”, which conceivably could be used in a derogatory manner to refer to people); 6. affect with dope or drugs; 7. very cool and sophisticated: “the dopest nightclub around” (recent (1990s) borrowing from the US) (all senses, except 4, originally US slang; originally (early 19th C.) meaning “sauce”, “gravy”, from Dutch “doop” = “dipping sauce”)
